Plastic Card Season Tickets 2022
This subject is on the season ticket thread, not looking to offend. However, I think this deserves its own thread, possibly even pinned?

There are many many West Ham supporters of a certain age that simply cannot do the whole 'ST on you phone' thing.

I won't list the reasons, they are many and obvious but many of these people are the heart of this club. Many still following home and away.

To make these loyal supporters feel awkward over something the young see as so simple, is embarrassing and simply not on. A bit of respect is due.

Why the club cannot make it easy and offer this service to people (example) over 55 years of age, is beyond me.

We all get the logic, streamlining and efficiency side of the cardless /paperless system BUT please let's not make this a big deal for some of our most loyal of supporters. Many of whom have backed this club through the toughest of times, for decades. Let's have a bit of respect.

Please sign attached and be vocal on this to WHUFC ticket office.

Cheers.

Why stop at a plastic card for over 55s? Supply the over 75s with a book with numbers that they tear out for each game!

With you 100%

Having a mobile phone should be a personal choice, not a prerequisite for an increasing number of things.

My dad is struggling to get a solution from west ham on this. He doesn't have a smartphone

York, or supply everybody with them, it would be quicker.

As would a lot of similar things.

Re: Plastic Card Season Tickets 2022
I emailed the club a week ago asking for a card ticket as I do not have my own smartphone. NO REPLY.

In the meantime I have received the NFC ticket by email and as a panic step I have downloaded it to my wife’s iPhone wallet.

This means I will have to take her phone to the game thus depriving it from her for 3 hours or so.

A plastic card would be much preferable to me.

Where the fuck is what you promised West Ham.

For those who don’t own a smartphone…
Just did a quick search for smartphones- Samsung Galaxy A53 5G a tenner with EE.
Not going to break the bank, is it?

Affordability isn't the point - people shouldn't be forced to have a smartphone they don't want. And that won't help people of a certain age anyway.

What OTB says... but it also appears you're forgetting the additional monthly plan charge of £30+

Re: Plastic Card Season Tickets 2022
This is a difficult one really, having been against using things like Apple Pay etc I bit the bullet and used it as I forgot my cards when popping out a few times and had my kids telling me to start using my iPhone (as that ever gets left behind) and what a handy bit of tech it’s been….

Very good point, whu.
It will become all the more difficult when they decide to also resume asking for your medical history again come autumn/winter and some 6 former in hi viz starts questioning the validity of your tired looking nhs receipt and smiley sticker from mid 2021.

HAMMERNH it aint so much the cost mate. Some people, especially older people, cant get their heads round how to use it.

Cross Hammers

Cost
Kids too young to have one
Older people who do not want one.
People who do not like using them.
People happy with ordinary mobile phone.
People who just do not want one. They are allowed to have a choice.
But that is not the point is it.
The club said anyone that does not ha e one can get a card.
People would of renewed on that basis.
So instead if digging out people who renewed but want what was promised how about looking at the people who made the promise and then went back on it.

Re: Plastic Card Season Tickets 2022
not aimed at WHUFC in particular, as they are far from alone in this move to smart phone type transactions, but aren't businesses in general supposed to (within reason) cater for their customers to a large extent?

Insisting that your customers HAVE to have a smartphone is the absolute opposite of that.

It's almost as if there's a wider angle going on with the increased insistence that everything be done on them.

Re: Plastic Card Season Tickets 2022
It should be an optional choice. For us who don't like having everything on a phone, a physical ticket would be great.

Lose your phone? You're fucked. It's a single point of failure.

There is far too much reliance on digitising everything, and it's not always practical.

Show me your papers.

Fuck off.
